# Authentication and scope

> Use your API key with the correct server context.

Send the key in an HTTP header:

```http theme={null}
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
```

This is a Dock API key, not a Discord token, Roblox cookie, or Dock browser-session token.

Supply `guildId` where an operation requires server context. Changing `guildId` does not grant access to another server.

The **PID** identifies a verification integration. The **API key** authenticates your backend. Keep the secret key on your backend and send users only the verification URL returned by Dock.
